Dear Friends of Taman Bebek,
Thank you so much to the now nearly 1000 of you who signed up as a Friend of Taman Bebek and an equally big THANK YOU to those who have already reached out to extend your additional support. You are keeping us strong through difficult times. We will make sure to keep you updated in the best of our capablities as we progress.
So what’s the current situation? On the 15th of July, after 45 years, our lease comes to an end after it not being extended, here is why in case you missed it. Our attempts to bring this to a friendly resolution have not been sucessful. But we haven’t lost hope. We are hoping that with your support, the love for this property will reach all parts involved and open the doors to a new resolution where the integrity of Taman Bebek is protected, even after the 15th of July.
In the meantime this is how you can help:
Book a Villa: Please support our team by sending your friends and family to stay in the remaining rooms and villas of Taman Bebek on the other side of the property, those without a pool and a view, this will support our team during this stage.
Co-Finance the Next Steps: Thank you to those of you who have already made sure to let us know we have your financial support! “As your lease ends mine starts and what I do with that land is of no ones interest but mine… I can build a ACK Fried Chicken or a bus station and the result would be the same for Taman Bebek… and anyway, who cares about a couple of old houses and a mud kitchen?” -
This answer strongly contrasts with the outpoure of support that Taman Bebek has received after we announced its apparent ill fate. The daily response from the island’s local, national, and international community has been nothing but spectacular.
